AEGD RESIDENCY

CLINICAL EXPERINCE

WHAT YOU’LL DO HERE

Training is built around real patient ownership, high-volume experience and faculty who are easy to reach. Expect a mix of comprehensive-care patients, which means strong case variety and consistent clinical reps.

BY THE NUMBERS

FAR BEYOND THE MINIMUM

Here is the average per resident clinical procedure numbers over the last three program years.

1,337 patients seen per resident - 157 surgical extractions per resident.

Averages: FY2023-24 to FY2025-26 totals divided 4 residents per year. Minimums: PGY-1 minimums. Bars share one scale.

AREAS OF TRAINING

BROAD GENERAL DENTISTRY, WITH REAL DEPTH

IMPLANTOLOGY

The full implant workflow

Review CBCT scans, plan cases, place implants, restore them and follow patients long-term. Many residents also restore implants placed by the previous class.

PROSTHODONTICS

Fixed & removable restoration

Crowns and bridgework, full-arch implant rehabilitation and hybrid prosthetics, complete and partial dentures, and overdentures, with prosthodontist faculty on site.

PERIODONTICS

Diagnosis to surgery

Non-surgical therapy through periodontal surgery, supported by board-certified periodontist faculty.

ORAL SURGERY

Complex surgical cases

Surgical and third-molar extractions, lateral-window and vertical sinus lifts, ridge splits, bone grafting, pre-prosthetic and periodontal surgery, with surgical decision-making taught case by case.

ENDODONTICS

Anterior through molar endo

Residents are encouraged to take on as much molar endodontics as they are comfortable with as cases present.

MEDICALLY COMPLEX CARE

Patients with real needs

Many patients have complex dental, medical and psychosocial needs. You learn to assess risk, coordinate with physicians and manage emergencies in the chair.

Sedation

IV moderate sedation pathway

An optimal certification track with documented cases, an oral board and a certificate of completion. Residents sedate co-resident’s cases for the first sixmonths, then their own.

DIGITAL WORKFLOW

Scan, design, print

Intraoral scanning and design, 3D printing and same-day crown workflows for efficient care.

CASE-BASED LEARNING

Your patients drive your education

Treatment planning, weekly case review and faculty guidance are tied directly to the patients you are treating.

A TYPICAL WEEK

SURGERY EVERY WEEK, SUPPORTIVE FACULTY

Residents typically perform surgeries on Thursdays and Fridays, including IV sedation cases. Mondays through Wednesdays are general dentistry days with some Wednesdays being Perio days. Comprehensive treatment plans gets faculty sign-off, and faculty are available to talk through cases and walk through surgical steps chairside.

“What makes the experience particularly strong is the accessibility of faculty: they are readily available to discuss cases, walk through surgical steps chairside, and provide real-time guidance. That balance of autonomy and mentorship creates an ideal environment for growth.”
